Job Title: Project Manager – Healthcare IT & Clinical Research
Location: Los Angeles, CA 90032 (Remote eligible for PST/CST only)
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Travel: Minimal, approximately 2–4 days per year
Onsite: Occasional onsite for HR orientation, equipment pickup, team events, or go-lives
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Healthcare IT Project Manager to support clinical research data initiatives within an academic medical environment. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare IT, research, data workflows, and organizational planning. You will partner with clinical researchers, data scientists, technical teams, and leadership to ensure smooth project execution and high-quality delivery.
Remote work is available for candidates residing in Pacific or Central Time Zones . Equipment can be shipped for candidates located 2+ hours from the office.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead project planning, execution, reporting, and closeout activities across clinical research data projects
• Coordinate and manage project workflows in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
• Ensure compliance with PMO processes, procurement guidelines, contracts, and research regulations
• Support BioData Catalyst program deliverables and timelines
• Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including clinical researchers and technical teams
• Manage meeting logistics: agendas, minutes, action items, and follow-ups
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports
• Communicate professionally with senior leaders across the Health System and University
• Maintain accurate project status reports for internal and external stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years experience in Health Informatics or Healthcare IT project management
• Experience working with or within a Healthcare IT PMO
• Strong technical project management skills across planning, execution, and ROI/business case development
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic data capture (EDC) tools
• Understanding of IRB, HIPAA, research regulations, and clinical data workflows
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Project, MS Teams, Excel, Word, and Visio
• Experience managing multi-person project teams and shifting priorities
Preferred Qualifications
• Background in clinical trials , research environments, or academic medical centers
• Experience with research budgets or NIH-funded programs
• Familiarity with HL7, CDA, and FHIR standards
• Knowledge of clinical data acquisition, management, and exchange workflows
• Experience with REDCap, OMOP/OHDSI, or Cerner EMR
• Understanding of healthcare data ontologies (ICD, CPT, LOINC, MedDRA)
• Exposure to AWS cloud services for research data
