Job Description

The Master Scheduler plays a key leadership role in driving production efficiency, schedule accuracy, and on-time delivery across the organization. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating the master production schedule that aligns customer demand with available capacity, materials, and resources.

Acting as a strategic link between operations, purchasing, IT, and sales, the Master Scheduler ensures production plans are optimized for output, cost, and customer satisfaction. This role also leads ongoing improvement efforts to maximize the functionality of the company’s ERP/MRP systems (Epicor), strengthen process reliability, and support a paperless, data-driven production environment.

Responsibility:

1. Communicate the strategic direction of Production Planning throughout all levels of the organization.
2. Develop and improve processes that maximize the power of our ERP and MRP Planning software (Epicor).
3. Support production by sequencing the schedule to maximize output and minimize changeover time while considering customer priority.
4. Oversees development of production and delivery schedules to execute an optimal weekly production plan.
5. Partnership with the purchasing team to establish dynamic production inventory targets required through all levels of the supply chain to satisfy fill rate commitments and financial projections.
6. Develops machine capacity utilization plans across all production departments.
7. Partner with IT to develop and maintain system and network updates to fully leverage system functionality.
8. Partner cross-functionally to ensure that processes produce cost effective, efficient operations, maintain customer goodwill, and achieve business objectives.
9. Develops and tracks metrics and success criteria for all initiatives.
10. Provide accurate lead time to the Customer Service and Sales teams.
11. Support the launch of new programs / products.
12. Monitor metrics of master schedules and track deviations for all machines. Identify issues, work to resolve them and share with Supervisor on a regular basis.
13. Participate in continuous improvement projects.

20. Machine used for production.
21. Manufacturing time
22. Lock in two weeks’ worth of machine demand on a weekly basis

Measurements of Effectiveness:

1. Always maintain 2 weeks’ worth of work on the floor.
2. Production dates met at least 95% of the time.
3. Projected daily production schedule vs actual output met or exceeded 75%.
4. Machine capacity metric (yards/hour) met or exceeded.
5. Reduce machine downtime.
6. Dependability = Performance Metrics related to attendance are described in the Time and Attendance section in the Associate Handbook.
