GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Law Offices of Daniel Kim is a top-rated Personal Injury Law Firm in California. We fight for plaintiffs in cases involving cars, trucks, motorcycles, rideshare companies (Uber/Lyft), and other motor vehicle accidents.
We are seeking a Liens Specialist to assist in identifying, negotiating, and resolving liens and reimbursement claims related to client settlements or awards. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of healthcare, insurance, and legal lien reduction strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in lien resolution, medical billing, or legal claims processing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Review case files to identify potential liens (Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, private health insurers, etc.).
• Request and analyze lien statements, medical records, and billing documents.
• Verify lien validity and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
• Communicate with insurance providers, healthcare facilities, and government agencies to negotiate lien reductions.
• Draft dispute letters, compromise proposals, and lien resolution agreements.
• Coordinate with attorneys to strategize lien settlements in clients’ best interests.
• Maintain accurate records of all lien-related communications and resolutions.
• Track lien deadlines, payments, and case distributions.
• Prepare lien resolution reports for attorneys and clients.
• Stay updated on lien laws, Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) regulations, and industry trends.
• Ensure timely resolution to avoid delays in case settlements or disbursements.
• Assist with audits or appeals related to disputed liens.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in lien resolution, medical billing, workers’ compensation, or personal injury law.
• Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid processes, ERISA, and private health insurance liens.
• Strong negotiation, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software (e.g., Clio, SmartAdvocate).
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage high-volume caseloads.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Employees work in a traditional office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
