Job Description

Join a distinguished Washington, DC law firm as their Front Desk / Administrative Assistant — the first face and voice clients, visitors, and staff encounter every day. This key administrative role blends classic front desk responsibilities with behind-the-scenes support for internal operations, meetings, and firm-wide events. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and enjoys keeping things running smoothly in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests with professionalism and warmth, directing visitors, vendors, and deliveries with ease.
  • Answer and route phone calls, monitor inboxes, and serve as a central communication point.
  • Oversee conference room scheduling and assist with setup, AV support, and meeting logistics.
  • Help coordinate firm events and office celebrations — from scheduling to catering to cleanup.
  • Keep communal areas organized and fully stocked, including the kitchen and supply closets.
  • Support administrative staff with document preparation, mailings, and basic administrative functions.
  • Assist with special projects, data management, and internal firm deliverables.
  • Liaise with vendors and building management to ensure the office runs efficiently.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • The culture is professional but warm — you’ll be part of a truly collaborative team.
  • Events and employee recognition are part of the firm’s DNA — birthdays, holidays, and more.
  • You’ll gain exposure to a variety of projects, with opportunities to support key firm functions.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package, including PTO, strong medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), on-site gym and more!

What We’re Looking For:

  • Customer service mindset. Whether from hospitality, high-end retail, or office support, you bring a service-first approach with at least two years of administrative or similar experience.
  • Professional poise. You’re composed, polished, and thrive in a high-standards environment.
  • Attention to detail. You keep things organized, accurate, and always a step ahead.
  • Reliable and resourceful. You know how to juggle priorities and solve problems quickly.
  • Tech-savvy. You’re comfortable with Microsoft Office and eager to learn new systems.

Essential to Hawthorne Lane’s success is our ability to attract talent from a range of backgrounds. Our network reflects the diverse community around us, and we believe in a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed. Applicants will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital or veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected status.
