Chemistry and Materials Technician

W2 Contract

Salary Range: $56,200 - $66,500 per year

Location: Menlo Park, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

As a Chemistry and Materials Technician, you will help our team become more efficient with research and scale-up of our innovative plastics circularity processes, reducing pollution and creating a circular economy for plastics. We have a differentiated chemical technology and a strong technical team. This role suits recent graduates (Bachelor or Associate) with 1-2 years of work experience in wet and/or analytical chemistry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform defined procedures related to lab research under direct supervision, e.g., titrations, analytical sample prep and data processing, routine chemical treatment steps, and characterization of chemicals and materials.
• Work within EH&S guidelines.
• Be responsible for the upkeep of the lab, including cleaning, washing, stocking, and organization.
• Present results at functional area meetings.
• Maintain lab equipment and inventory of chemicals and supplies, and work with vendors as needed.
• Perform routine and semi-routine scientific experiments and/or analysis. Identify operational issues.
• Draft and/or suggest edits for SOPs in the work area. Keep batch records and write experiment summaries.
• Assist with other areas of Lab Operations as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed at the discretion of supervisors.
• Perform all duties per company values, policies, and all applicable regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and 1+ years of industry lab experience or 5+ years of industry experience as a wet lab technician
• Experience working with highly hazardous chemicals/materials is preferred.
• Passionate about solving the plastic waste problem and sustainability in general
• Willing to perform routine tasks and understand how they contribute to the company's mission and goals
