We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with deep expertise in axle design, transfer case development, and hydrostatic transmission systems. This leadership role will oversee the end-to-end engineering lifecycle of drivetrain components, ensuring robust, high-performance, and cost-effective solutions for off-highway and heavy-duty vehicle applications. The ideal candidate will drive innovation, lead cross-functional teams, and align product development with strategic business objectives. Strong technical acumen in mechanical systems, a track record of successful project delivery, and leadership in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment are essential.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineering Strategy: Define and execute the engineering vision for axle, transfer case, and hydrostatic transmission product lines in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance on system architecture, design standards, and validation processes for drivetrain components.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple concurrent development projects, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and performance targets.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team; foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to ensure seamless integration and lifecycle support of drivetrain systems.
  • Customer & Supplier Interface: Engage with key customers and supply partners to capture requirements, resolve technical issues, and support product customization or co-development.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement engineering best practices, design standards, Service and maintenance instructions, and tools to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Service and Warranty: Collaborate with team members to support service and warranty processes by troubleshooting/identifying root causes and recommending necessary repairs.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs meet regulatory, safety, and industry standards (e.g., SAE, ISO, and FMVSS).
  • R&D and Innovation: Drive research and development initiatives to improve performance, reduce cost, and explore emerging drivetrain technologies.
  • Mechanical Ability: Strong aptitude and enthusiasm for hands-on mechanical work to support engineering challenges in both production and prototype development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven expertise in the design, development, and validation of axles, transfer cases, and hydrostatic transmissions preferred.
  • Experience in off-highway, agricultural, construction, or heavy-duty vehicle industries preferred.
  • Proficient with J1939 truck architecture
  • Technical Skills
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical drivetrain systems, fluid power systems, and gear train design.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and FEA analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and materials.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., SAE, ISO) and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering change processes.

  • Leadership and team-building skills, with a proven ability to manage engineering teams.
  • Excellent project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
