At Pentaflex, Inc , automation is more than a support function—it’s central to how we deliver precision, efficiency, and uptime in our metal stamping operations. As an Automation and Process Engineer here, you’ll play a hands-on role in designing, programming, and optimizing systems that keep our press lines running smoothly. We work primarily with Allen-Bradley platforms, including RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000, and value engineers who can troubleshoot in real time, think critically on the floor, and build solutions that scale. We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Automation & Process Engineer to join our team in a high-volume, heavy metal stamping facility. This role is critical to supporting and advancing our automation systems including robotic welding and assembly cells, PLC programming, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience with control systems, a solid understanding of industrial automation, and a background in process engineering in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and/or support automation projects, launches, and initiatives
  • Perform root cause analysis of production issues, develop and implement engineering solutions focusing on efficiency, reliability, and quality
  • Troubleshoot, and optimize automated systems using Allen-Bradley controls
  • Support automated robotic cells (welding and assembly) to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and safety.
  • Maintain and update documentation, in equipment schematics, diagrams and equipment programs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (maintenance, production, quality) to resolve equipment and process-related issues.
  • Specify and coordinate installation of sensors, actuators, HMIs, and other control system components.
  • Support new equipment commissioning, line upgrades, and integration of automation solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in manufacturing environment in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or related engineering role.
  • Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, Yaskawa) in welding and assembly applications.

· Must have understanding of metal forming and machining principals

  • Strong understanding of automation systems, including HMIs, sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics, & safety relays.
  • Knowledge of process engineering, lean manufacturing principles, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Experience in heavy metal stamping or automotive sectors.
  • Proficient in PLC programming (RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000).
  • Experience with die protection systems.
  • Lean experience
