07 Electrical Journeyman (Nonresidential Maintenance) with NETA Testing Interest

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled 07 Electrical Journeyman with a valid Washington State Nonresidential Maintenance license to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of nonresidential electrical systems, with a strong emphasis on NETA (InterNational Electrical Testing Association) testing procedures or a strong desire and competency to learn. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and eager to develop expertise in NETA testing standards for equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and other critical electrical systems. If youre a strong 07 Journeymen and are eager to expand your career and experience, we will provide on the job training and continuing education to obtain your NETA credentials. We would expect you to obtain your NETA 2 certification within (1) year of employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on nonresidential electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems, in compliance with Washington State electrical codes and regulations.
  • Conduct NETA-compliant testing and inspections on electrical equipment, including but not limited to:

Insulation resistance testing

Contact resistance testing

Transformer turns ratio (TTR) testing

Circuit breaker testing

Protective relay testing

  • Document test results, maintenance activities, and equipment conditions accurately using company tracking systems and NETA reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure all work adheres to the National Electrical Code (NEC), Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and Revised Code of Washington (RCW).
  • Assist in training and mentoring electrical trainees or apprentices, ensuring safe and effective work practices.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Participate in on-the-job training (OJT) programs to enhance NETA testing skills and support career growth.

Qualifications

  • Valid Washington State 07 Electrical Journeyman (Nonresidential Maintenance) license
  • Valid Washington state Driver license. With valid insurance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nonresidential electrical maintenance, with demonstrated interest or experience in NETA testing procedures (e.g., switchgear, transformers, or protective relays).
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and ability to navigate the 2020 NEC codebook efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Washington State electrical laws (RCW/WAC).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers, or TTR testers).
  • Proficiency in performing electrical testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks with precision and safety.
  • Strong documentation skills for recording test results and maintenance activities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and trainees.

Preferred:

  • Experience with NETA Acceptance Testing Specifications (ATS).
  • Commitment to completing the required hours of continuing education every three years, as required for license renewal.
